Ora Browning Wilkerson (née Clemmons) ran into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday May 17, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of faith, kindness, generosity, and love.
She was born in Sand Gap, Kentucky, on October 31, 1932. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Roy Browning and Casper Wilkerson. Ora is survived by her daughter, Susan Browning Branson (Rob); her granddaughters, Christa Branson and Beth Branson Pendergraff (Gregg); her great-granddaughters, Raven and Abigail Pendergraff; and her beloved nieces, Linda, Shary, Mara, Toni, and Jackie, whom she loved like her own children.
She loved her family deeply and treasured every moment spent with them, whether gathered for special occasions or simple everyday moments. In particular, she loved to hear her daughter, Susan, play the piano. She found great joy in praying for others, encouraging those who were struggling, and opening her home and heart to anyone in need.
Those who knew Ora will remember her gentle spirit, warm smile, spunky sense of humor, and steadfast faith. Her family will also fondly remember her love of Donato’s pepperoni pizza, microwave s’mores, melted ice cream, and most of all, York Peppermint Patties that were supplied by her favorite son-in-law. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren will cherish the phrase “peace and tranquility” and carry Ephesians 4:32 in their hearts forever: “Be ye kind one to another, forgiving each other, just as Christ forgave you.” Above all, she will be remembered for her unwavering faith and love for her Lord and Savior.
The family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Berkeley Square Special Care unit for the compassionate care and support provided over the last four years, and to Queen City Hospice for the kindness and comfort given during Ora’s final hours.
Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices in the assurance that she is now resting in the presence of her Savior. Ora’s memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved her. May her life inspire others to walk faithfully with God and to love others well.
We are confident she closed her eyes on earth and awoke to her Savior saying the words she longed to hear: ‘Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
