Pat (Denny) Spears

SPEARS Patricia D. “Pat”, age 66, of Fairfield, Ohio beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away suddenly on Saturday March 15, 2004 at her vacation home in Homosassa, FL. Mrs. Spears was born in Lexington, KY on July 26, 1947, to the late Jack and June (nee Ruth) Denny. She is survived by her husband of 44 years David “Buck”; son, David Patrick “D.P.”; sisters Pokey (Mark) Wineberg and Jacke Stempfley; mother in law, Earlene Spears, nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends, Mary Lou Parsons, Susan Smith, Judy Klamo, and Angie Dugit. Pat is also survived by numerous colleagues and former students. She will be missed profoundly! Mrs. Spears served as a middle and elementary school teacher for 35 years for the Fairfield City Schools. After graduation from Fairfield High School in 1965, she received her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and master’s degree from Miami University. Pat wanted to be remembered for her life’s work and not for her death. Her wish was that friends, colleagues, and students celebrate her life in their own fashion by reflecting on the impact she had on their lives and the lives of those around them. Pat’s legacy will live on through all of those whose life she enriched. Mrs. Spears was also a homemaker to her family’ served on countless school and community functions; traveled extensively; enjoyed the outdoors; tackled the toughest Soduko puzzles; read voraciously; loved gardening, golf, meeting people, baking sock it to me cakes; and the color purple. A lifelong resident of Fairfield and was a self proclaimed “historian”; and would eagerly tell you the family lineage of most everyone without being asked. She knew everyone! Pat was kind and loving to everyone and had a deep respect for the diversity of cultures and people she met. She will be remembered by all those she touched with her smile strength, energy, and passion for life. She brought out the best in people, loved her family more than life, and gave her love unconditionally. All will miss her brilliant smile, sky blue eyes, and beautiful up lifting spirit. Visitation will be Friday March 21, 2014 from 4-7 p.m. at Fairfield First Baptist Church, 1072 Hicks Blvd. Fairfield, OH 45014. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Fairfield Champions Foundation, 306 Wyoming Ave., Fairfield, OH 45014.
