Paul E Berger

Paul E. Berger, age 88 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away at Glen Meadows Nursing Home on Thursday, January 17, 2008. He was born September 20, 1919 in Hamilton, the son of the late Albert H. and Katherine (Lombrad) Berger. He married Vera (Kramer) Berger on May 6, 1949 in Dunlap, Ohio. She preceded him in death on October 5, 1985.

Paul was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army (Company C, 147th infantry) in the Asiatic-Pacific theatre and received the American Defense Service Ribbon and the Purple Heart for his service. He was employed as a club manager for the American Legion Post #138, Monkeys Mutual Aid Society, Eagles Lodge #407, VFW Post #1069 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #36. Paul also worked for several years for the U.S. Postal Services.

Paul is survived by his three sons; Gary Berger of Fairfield, Tom (Sheila) Berger of Hamilton and Dennis (Jeanette) of Fairfield. He leaves behind three grandsons; Jason Berger of Dayton, Dennis (DJ) Berger of Fairfield and Tim (Amanda Dameron) of Kansas City, MO. Four granddaughters; Christina (Phillip Terry) Rasch of Hamilton, Kerri (Darren McDonald) Berger of Hamilton, Jill (Paul) Schirmer of Vero Beach, FLA, Joni (Will) Ray of Hamilton and Chelsey Catron of Fairfield. Nine great grandchildren including: Isaiah and Kyle Rasch of Hamilton, Kelsie Terry of Hamilton, Ashton Berger of Kansas City, MO, Kaleb McDonald of Hamilton, Sierra and Mariah Schirmer of Vero Beach, FLA, and Jakob and Breanna Ray of Hamilton. Paul also leaves behind a brother-in-law Richard (Shirley) Kramer of Sefner, FLA.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his three sisters Helen Miller, Marine Wear and Esther McCracken (all of Hamilton) and his three brothers Stanley and Walter (Oregon) and Albert (Hamilton). He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law Betty Fitzwater and her husband Harold of Fairfield and three great grandchildren Emerald and Damon Schirmer of Vero Beach, Florida and Mathew Berger of Fairfield.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until - time of memorial service (11 a.m.) on Saturday, January 26 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, Ohio.
