Paul Laubenstein

October 3, 1928 — September 9, 2008

Age 79, of Hamilton went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at his home. He was born October 3, 1928, in Hamilton, the son of Arthur Peter and Rose (Powell) Laubenstein. On March 25, 1950, Paul married Evon Phillips at the First Baptist Church of Hamilton. He was a graduate of Hamilton High School and attended Bowling Green and Miami Universities. He completed the Tool and Die Apprenticeship at Fisher Body and worked there for almost 34 years, first as a Tool and Die Maker and then as a Quality Control Analyst, retiring in 1987. Paul enjoyed bowling and golfing and liked taking photographs while traveling. Many friends and family enjoy his handiwork in the pieces of furniture he built of refurnished. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton. At First Baptist and Immanuel Baptist Church he served faithfully as deacon, trustee, Sunday School teacher, Sunday School superintendent and Paul enjoyed singing in the choir.

Paul is survived by his wife of 58 years, Evon; daughter, Randi (Lawrence) Combs; sons, Chris (Trish) Laubenstein and Todd (Ambryn) Laubenstein; grandchildren, Dorrie (Tim) Azbill, Ryan Combs, Erin Combs, Christopher Reid, and Erich Laubenstein; brother Robert "Bob" (Pauline) Laubenstein and his family. Paul deeply loved his family and considered his wife's family his own. He is also survived by sisters in law, Evelyn Phillips Claxton, Pricilla Phillips Cress, and Patsy Phillips Kollen; brothers in law, Bill (Lois) Phillips and Michael Phillips; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, "Pete" and Rose Laubenstein; his parents in law, Elbert and Cora Phillips; brothers in law, Fred Claxton and Jack Phillips; and sister in law Pam Phillips.

Visitation will be 10am until time of service (12noon) Friday, September 12, 2008, at the First Baptist Church in Hamilton, 1501 Pyramid Hill Blvd, Hamilton. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park with Pastor Lawrence Combs, Dr. Dennis Metzger, and Reverend William C. Brantingham officiating. Avance Funeral Home & Crematory is serving the family.

The family appreciates the care and support given to Paul and his wife during their journey with Alzheimer's disease: Dr. Thomas Sargero and his staff, the staff of Caring Hearts Day Care Center, the staff of Hospice of Cincinnati/ Hamilton, individual caregivers, the church families and friends. The family suggests those who wish to make memorial gifts consider First Baptist Church of Hamilton, Hospice of Cincinnati/ Hamilton or Alzheimer's Association.
