Paulette Marie Helm, age 72, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 1, 2024, with her beloved dogs, Bella and Izzy, by her side.
Born on February 4, 1952, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Paulette was the daughter of Alessandro “Sam” and Edna Cecere. She attended St. Vivian Grade School and graduated from Ursuline High School. Paulette dedicated over 40 years to a career in banking, where she built lasting relationships that became a significant part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Judith Snow and Michelle Cecere; her late husband and the love of her life of 25 years, Ron Helm, who passed in May 2009; and later, her dear companion of 10 years, John J. Bultman, who passed in December 2020.
Paulette leaves behind her daughter, Alicia (Keith) Brogan, her daughter Elizabeth Ullum, and her beloved grandchildren: Emma Essert, Corbin Essert, and Cole Ullum, whom she loved deeply and cherished with all her heart. The last 14 years of her life were also enriched by her connection with John’s family, including his son Ben (Karen) Bultman and their children Clara, Brenden, Maren, and Kelen, as well as his daughter Allison (Suzanne) Miller Bultman.
Paulette’s grandchildren were the light of her life, and she delighted in making every holiday and birthday magical for them. She eagerly followed their lives, taking them on trips, where she ensured they had everything they needed, and filling their days with laughter, joy, and a visit to her famous snack drawer. Grandma/Gaga’s house was a place where fun was guaranteed, often a little messy, and always memorable.
As a lifelong banker, Paulette was rich in relationships and known throughout the community. Her staff and customers were more than just connections—they became her extended family. She celebrated their milestones with great enthusiasm and treated every customer with respect, building friendships that grew beyond her career.
Outside of work, Paulette cherished her neighbors and friends, who became an essential part of her life. From daily chats over the fence to hosting pool parties to traveling the world, she was always present and eager to bring people together. Rarely would she say no to anyone, embodying kindness, generosity, and warmth.
Paulette’s love for animals was a hallmark of her life. She never turned away a stray, and her home was often filled with pets she had rescued, including at one time five dogs and a cat. Her love and compassion extended to every creature she encountered.
Paulette’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void for all who knew and loved her. Her vibrant smile, her love of the holidays, and her ability to make each person feel special will be deeply missed.
