DEIS, Pauline Lenore (nee Swallow)
Age 89 of Fairfield, passed away Friday, January 31, 2014 at Mercy Hospital of Fairfield. She was born October 18, 1924 in New Weston, Dark Co., OH, the daughter of Lewis and Nola (Spencer) Swallow. She was educated in Dayton, Ohio. Prior to marriage she was active in the Inland Children’s Chorus. She participated in national music competitions, was a member of an all-girls orchestra and was an avid swimmer. On March 4, 1944 Pauline married Carl Phillip Deis. She worked at Giles and Landus for many years before moving to Fairfield. Her favorite activity was watching her children, grand-children, and great grand-children participate in sports. She was an active member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
She leaves behind her sons, Michael (Sandra) Deis. and Ken (Peggy) Deis; daughter-in-law, Pat (John) Deis-Gleeson; Grandchildren; Jennifer (Robert) Garner, Darby (Scott) Moore, Heather (Lance) Huffman, Dawne (Drew) Davis, Dana Deis, Phillip (Stefanie) Deis, Evan Deis: great-children Grant Garner, Riley Garner, Emma Garner, William Garner, Joely Garner, Stephan Moore, Ryan Moore, Brady Huffman, Haelyn Davis, Penelope Deis. Cousins Helen (Don) Kear, Norma Hixon, She also leaves behind very special friend Veronica Hepp and her children Zoltan, Attila, Balazs.
Pauline was preceded in death by her sister (Hazel); parents; husband; son, the Honorable Larry Deis and special cousin Betty (Hixson) Miller.
The family wishes to thank Rhonda and Goldie for ensuring that last few months of her life were heartwarming and rewarding.
Visitation will be 2 p.m. – until time of service (4 p.m.), Monday, February 3, 2014 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Dr. Fairfield, OH 45014 with Pastor Tammy Jo Reiser officiating. Graveside services and burial will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 4 at Shiloh Park Cemetery, Philadelphia Dr. & N. Main St., Dayton, OH 45415.
