Age 64, of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2005. She was born March 11, 1940 in Hamilton, the daughter of Ralph and Thelma (Pieper) Ditmyer. Peggy attended Hamilton City Schools and was a graduate of Miami University and Xavier University. On February 3, 1967 she married William Dean Chamberlain. Peggy taught for over 30 years in the Hamilton and Fairfield City Schools, retiring in 1992. Peggy currently was serving as the Director of Children's Ministries at First Baptist Church in Hamilton.
Peggy is survived by her mother, Thelma Ditmyer of Fairfield; husband William Chamberlain of Hanover Township; son, Roger Chamberlain and wife, Robin of Fairfield and three grandsons, Joshua, Brian, and Darin Chamberlain. She was preceded in death by her father, Ralph Ditmyer.
Peggy's life centered on her love for God, her family, and nurturing children in a manner that each child knew they were special and important. Affectionately known as "Gramma Peg" and "Teacher Peggy", her smile, joy, warmth, and love will be greatly missed yet we rejoice in knowing she is home with her Lord and Savior in whom she so deeply loved.
Friends may call at the First Baptist Church, 1501 Hamilton-Cleves Road, Sunday February 20 beginning at 2:00 PM followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 5:00 PM with Dr. Dennis M. Metzger and Reverend William C. Brantingham officiating. Burial will be Monday, February 21 at 10:30 AM at Hickory Flats Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church of Hamilton, Children's Ministries. The family will accept condolences at www.avancefuneralhome.com.
