Phyllis Jean (Kuykendall) Tunning

Phyllis Jean Tunning, age 93, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2022. Born in Omaha, Nebraska to Joe and Marie Kuykendall, she married Robert Tunning on March 12, 1948, in Chicago, Illinois and remained his loving wife for 50 years until his passing in 1998.  She was the devoted mother of Steve (Susie) Tunning, Sandy (Doug) Fisher, Jeff (Gaye Earlywine) Tunning, and Pat (Doug) Lopina, loving grandmother of 10 grandchildren – Katie, Dan, Tim, Michael, Diana, Jeff Jr., Bryan, Christy, Robert, and Kim, and proud great-grandmother of 15 great-grandchildren.

Phyllis was known for her sense of humor, feistiness, love for others, strong faith, and fierce independence. She loved her job working at Walgreens as a cashier, and later as a greeter.

The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care provided by the Triple Creek Retirement Community staff and Hospice Care of Cincinnati.

Visitation will be held from 2:00–4:00 pm on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, Ohio followed by a memorial service. A graveside service will be held Monday October 17, 2022 at 11AM at West Chester Cemetery, 6425 West Chester Rd, West Chester, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Triple Creek Retirement Community or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church.
