VENABLE
Rufus B. (R.B.) age 91 of Cincinnati, Ohio passed away on Wednesday September 18, 2013. R.B. was born in Beattyville, KY on February 11, 1922. He attended Berea College after high school and continued studying business, sales, and real estate.
R.B. was married for 46 years to his sweetheart Edith (Edy), shortly after returning from WW II, Pacific Arena, where he served in the Navy and was attached to the Marines, she precedes him in death. R.B. is survived by his loving daughters, Karen Campbell, and Sherry (Richard) Friedmann; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; brothers, James Venable and Ernest Venable; sisters Mavis Seale and Vivian Fox; their spouses, children, and other family and friends.
R.B. was self employed in the insurance industry for 54 years. He enjoyed fishing, golf, and Ohio State Football; actively involved in Calvary Bible Church, Columbus and the Immanuel Baptist Church, Hamilton. R.B. was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Marines Night Fighters Association.
Along with his beloved wife Edith M. Farmer Venable, R.B. is also preceded in death by his parents, Matt and Verlie Venable; and his brother William Venable.
The Home Going Gathering will be Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 12 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Visitation will be from 10 a.m.- 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be Monday in Columbus, OH at the Union Cemetery at 2 p.m.
