Rev. Reuben J. Swanson, Phd

Age 91 of Fairfield died on Monday, March 23, 2009 at his home. He was born April 15, 1917 in Rockford, IL, the son of Joseph E. and Esther L. (Carlson) Swanson. Rev. Swanson was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Edna M. and Marian H.; daughter, Susan M.; grandson Christopher; and brothers, Irwin, Edward and Robert. On October 22, 2003 he married Viola Toso in Moorhead, MN.

Reuben served in 15 various congregations throughout the country, as Pastor and taught at the University and Seminary levels. Most noted for his publications in the field of New Testament Studies (Manuscripts).

Rev. Swanson leaves behind his wife, Viola Swanson; sons, Robert W. and Rev. Timothy R. (Sherry) Swanson; grandchildren, Cheri (Steve), Jessica (David), Christine (Kyle), and Erik; great-grandchildren, Emanuel, Kevin, Phoebe, Morgan and Ian; and sister, Rebecca Emerson.
