R.H. Van Nortwick

The race is run, the battle is won, and the warrior is home. Thursday, January 21, 2010, Rev. R.H. Van Nortwick traded his earthly tent for a building eternal in the heavens. He was born November 22, 1909 in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania the son of Archie and Nellie (nee Foster) Van Nortwick. He graduated from UC with majors in Geology and Engineering before marrying Lucile E. Mack in Schenectady, New York in 1934. He prepared for the ministry and graduated in the first graduating class of Fundamental Baptist Bible Institute in Arlington, Texas in 1940. They moved to Hamilton, Ohio in 1952, when he started the Lindenwald Baptist Church where he was the pastor for 25 years. He has maintained an active ministry throughout life. He recently celebrated his 100th birthday with a reception of family and friends.

He is survived by his children, David (Donna) Van Nortwick of Garland, Texas, Paul (Penny) Van Nortwick of Atlanta, Georgia, and Beth (Danny) Hershner of Hamilton, Ohio; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lucile Van Nortwick April 8, 1999; and great granddaughter, Rachel Wilcox.

Visitation will be 2-6pm, Sunday, January 24, 2010, at the Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, Ohio 45014. Service will be 10:30am, Monday, January 25, 2010, at the Lindenwald Baptist Church, 460 Symmes Rd. Fairfield, with Rev. Andy Olinger officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton. In lieu of flowers donation can be made to the church of one's choice.
