Robert Paul Gfroerer

Age 81 of Fairfield passed away at University Hospital Thursday August 2, 2007. He was born August 20, 1925 in Hamilton, the son of Paul and Dorothy (Phares) Gfroerer. He was a veteran of World War II having served with the U.S. Navy from October 15, 1943 to March 14, 1946.

On July 2, 1948 he was united in marriage to Wilmarie Phelps and to this union three children were born. On June 1, 1973 in Monroe, Ohio he was married to Phyllis Jean Greer.

He is survived by his wife of thirty-four years, Jeanne Gfroerer; son, Michael Paul (LeeAnn) Gfroerer; daughter, Wendy Kay Hicks; step - daughters whom he loved as his own, Terri Jo Greer and Cathy (Randy) Hobson, with whom he made his home; sister-in-law, Dottie Lewis; grandchildren, Alex Gfroerer, Dustin, Adam, and Carter Hicks, and Amanda Jo Hobson (his favorite soccer player). Robert was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kelly Jo Gfroerer; and son-in-law John Hicks.

The family wishes to thank the Doctors and nurses in the Neuroscience ICU for the wonderful care given to our loved one and the compassion shown to our family.

Graveside service to be private with family and close friends only. There will be no visitation. Remains to be interred in Greenwood Cemetery with Military rites. The Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield is serving the family. Condolences may be sent at www.avancefuneralhome.com
