Robert L. Johnson, 69, of Liberty Township, completed his life on Monday, January 18, 2016. He cherished his family and grandchildren, and considered it life's bonus to witness his daughter Marianne's business acumen in New York City and to hear his son, Rob, perform French horn with major United States symphonies. Bob was particularly proud of Marianne and Rob's spouses, Ryan and Ariella, as additions to our family.
Bob enjoyed cooking. He made a tasty Spanish bean soup, a zesty spaghetti sauce, and killer Cuban sandwiches. He would prepare lobster and crab and was an excellent prime rib man. He enjoyed traveling to South Beach, Manhattan, Sarasota, Houston and many other destinations for fine dining with family. Bob enjoyed football, golf, Claude Monet, salt water dock fishing, and family beach vacations.
Bob played high school football for Hamilton and Talawanda. His middle linebacker position was a good fit for his tall stature and impressive frame. Bob was on Miami's golf team and was known for his powerful, distance drives. Bob was a Miami University graduate, and a proud Miami Merger of 48 years with his wife, Darlene. Bob was a small business entrepreneur. His loyal customer base fondly knew him as The Pool Man and The Water Wizard.
Left to honor his memory: wife Darlene (Ontko), daughter Marianne (Ryan) Hamilton, Grandson Armstrong, son Rob (Ariella), twin grandsons Ezra and Reuben, Brother William (Sheila), sister Debbie Suddeth, nieces, nephews and many friends and business associates.
Gratitude to Drs. Evan Lang, Nathan Schmulewitz, Pawel Szczykutowicz, Sadia Benzaquen, Rick Balestra, Milton Smith, Catalin Nicola, Charles Kim.
Bob's Celebration of Life will start at 3 o'clock with a Tribute Time for anyone who would like to recount an adventure or experience that you had with Bob. If you prefer a written format, family will read your story. Thank you to all for the love and friendship over the years. Thanks for the memories.
To honor Bob, our family asks that everyone do an intentional extra act of kindness for a loved one.
