Robert R. Rowland

Dr. Robert R. Rowland died on January 30, 2008. He was husband of Naomi (Pierson) Rowland, father of daughters Suzan J.(Richard) Stracke of Fairfield and Lynn M. (Tim) White of Gaithersburg, MD; grandfather of Richie G. Stracke of Chicago, IL and Robert C. Stracke of Fairfield, OH Megan A. White of Gaithersburg, MD, and Kendra L. White of San Fransisco, CA. He was born in 1920 in Indianapolis, IN to parents Harry C. and Nellie C. Rowland (both deceased). He was also preceded in death by his brother, Richard E. Rowland.

Rowland, a United Methodist Minister, served South Indiana Conference churches, including Hanover, Cumberland, North Vernon, and Clarksville. Leaving the pastorate in 1955 he was appointed by the Conference to vice presidencies at the University of Evansville, IN, Wilson College, PA, Scarritt College, TN, and North Carolina Wesleyan College. He retired from the United Methodist ministry and North Carolina Wesleyan College in 1982.

Rowland's former education included BA Hanover College, IN, MDIV Christian Theological Seminary, IN, and DD University of Indianapolis.

The family will receive friends from 12 Noon - until time of funeral services (1 p.m.), Monday, February 4, 2008 at St.Mark's United Methodist Church, 4601 Fairfield Ave., Fairfield, OH 45014. Private Graveside services will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery. The Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield is serving the family. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Mark's Church.
