Age 86, passed away Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Ft. Hamilton Hospital.
He was born December 18, 1922, the youngest son of Harry F. and Catherine (Wellinghoff) Stricker, in Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1941 and after Pearl Harbor, enlisted in the United States Navy. He served until December 1945. While stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base in Chicago, Illinois, he met his future wife, Winifred A. Straub. They were married February 13, 1945 in the Navy Chapel at Patuxent River, Maryland. The family just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
Mr. Stricker retired from Cincinnati Bell in February, 1986 after 40 years of service. He was a life long member of St. Stephen's Church until it's closing. During that time he served as President of the Holy Name Society and served as head of St. Stephen's Tuesday night bingo for over 20 years.
Besides his wife, Winifred, he leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, Jane (Thomas) Oberdorf of Hamilton, Karen (James) Mueller of Cincinnati, Claudia Loysen of Columbus, Kathleen (David) Arnold of Centerville, Barbara (Gregory) Dininger of Farifield Township, Winifred (Gary) Seifert of Fairfield Township; son, Robert P. Stricker, II of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Jamie (Arnie) Beringer, James (Casi) Mueller, Jennifer Mueller, Sarah (Denis) Dorrel, Brian Loysen, Heather (fiancee Lucas Perfors) Loysen, Kiel Loysen, Matthew Arnold, Elizabeth (fiancee Daniel Tyburski) Arnold, Nicholas Arnold, Luke (Katie) Dininger, Joseph Dininger, Jeffery (Heather) Seifert and Alicia Seifert; great grandsons, Colin Loysen, Oscar, Quincy and Chance Beringer, and Maxwell Mueller; he was looking forward to the birth of twin great granddaughters in July; nieces and nephews; and friends in the Liars Club. He really enjoyed the monthly "meetings". He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and their wives, Cletus (Alberta) Stricker and George (Marge) Stricker; and nephews, Thomas and Donald Stricker.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Avance Funeral Home in Fairfield, Ohio. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM on Monday, April 6, 2009 at the Holy Name Church. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Holy Name Church, 222 Hamilton Avenue, Trenton, Ohio 45067 or The American Lung Association or The American Heart Association or the charity of one's choice. We wish to thank Dad's doctors, nurses, and aides on the fourth floor of Ft. Hamilton for the wonderful care during his last days.
