Robert “Bob” Eugene Marsh, age 77, of Fairfield, Ohio, died Saturday, December 3rd, 2022, in Mason, Ohio. He was born on January 1, 1945, in Hanover, Indiana, to Charles Henry and Ruth Ellen Larison Marsh, the middle child of three boys. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Charles Fredrick and David Allen Marsh, and one nephew, David Fredrick Marsh. Bob is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Barbara; his sons Troy Robert (“Bobby”) and Jason and daughters Jessica Haskamp and Brittany Jackson; seven grandchildren, Amber, Austin, Melody, Mitchell, Matthew, Gretchen and Willie; five great-grandchildren, Charlie, Max, Jude, Silas, and Jettson; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Also surviving Bob is his first wife, Dixie McClellan Marsh. A 1962 graduate of Southwestern High School (IN), Bob (known as Bobcat to his family and friends), spent his younger years excelling in sports and was a stellar high-school athlete. From cross country to basketball, he amazed teammates and spectators alike; Bob was an outstanding pole vaulter and a member of the school’s sectional championship basketball team of 1961. As an adult, he was an avid golfer, going on annual guys’ golf trips, always swinging for under par. Professionally, Bob spent his life as an engineer. Ever the perfectionist, he would carefully grid water lines for a rural water company, eventually retiring from Southwest Regional Water District (Butler County, Ohio) as an assistant manager. He spent many years mentoring younger engineers, influencing the next generation. Bob enjoyed sports, traveling, and mostly, spending time with family. For years, he hosted family pool parties at his home in Fairfield, where he meticulously manicured a beautiful lawn and gardens. Bob also enjoyed morning walks with his dogs, spoiling them with breakfast sandwiches afterward. He loved music and spent countless hours listening to James Taylor, the Eagles, Alabama and many more musicians from the 1950s-70s. And just as Taylor sings in “You’ve Got a Friend,” Bob was the kind of friend you could always count on, even “when those old north winds begin to blow.” He will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him. For family and friends of the family, a private celebration of Bob’s life will be held for January 17th 4-8PM at a private room in Berds Bar & Grill, 500 Wessel Drive, Fairfield, OH 45014 which has a private entrance just north of the main entrance. The family has requested no flowers however, memorials may be made to Queen City Hospice, 4605 Duke Drive Suite 220, Mason, OH, 45050 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 Michigan Avenue FL 17, Chicago, IL, 60601 in Bob’s name..
