Ronald Laney, age 77, of Fairfield passed away on February 27, 2004 at his home with his family by his side. He was born February 15, 1927 in Butler County, Ohio to Frank A. and Gladys (Power) Laney. On March 11, 1950 he was married to Phyllis (Garrison) in Hamilton, OH. Ron worked as a Supervisor for Diebold and retired in 1990 with 43 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints. He served as Bishop for the Hamilton/Fairfield Ward for 8 years and fulfilled many other Church leadership positions throughout his life. At the time of his death, he had served for 10 years as the Stake Patriarch. Ron was an active participant in the Junior Achievement Program and loved working with the youth. Of all of the service he has rendered, his greatest love and passion was his family.
Ron leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Phyllis of 54 years; children, Michael (Julie) Laney, Alan (Leslie) Laney, Robin (Bruce) Kramer, and Robert (Marie) Laney; sisters, Helen Francis and Janice (Jeff) McMurray; 11 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Ralph, Frank Richard, and Keith.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday March 1, 2004 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 4831 Pleasant Avenue, Fairfield with Bishop Ron Rosenberg officiating. Interment will follow at Rosehill Burial Park. Visitation with a Lifetime of Memories Tribute will be 6-8 p.m., Sunday (Today) at the Avance Funeral Home & Cremtory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield.
