Roy K. Ellis, Sr.

Roy K. Ellis, Sr., age 89 of Fairfield passed away Tuesday July 19, 2005 at his home. Roy was born March 18, 1916 in Wilmington, OH, the son of Otis and Louise (Beair) Ellis. On April 13, 1940 he married Rhada L. Bennett in Dayton, OH. Roy served his country in the US Army. Roy was a charter member of Fairborn Lodge #764 F. & A. M., York Rite, Antioch Shrine in Dayton and High Twelve Club of Hamilton. He continued his tradition of service as a proud member of the Dayton Police Department. In 1980 he retired as a Regional Manager of Morgan Linen Services. Mr. Ellis, a long-time Christian and Church member served in many calling for the Church of God. After his retirement he served as a custodian for 23 more years at the Ross Avenue Church of God, retiring in 2004 at the age of 88. Although service to others was important, his highest priority was his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rhada Ellis; sons, Roy (Nancy) Ellis, Jr., Gary L. (Becky) Ellis, and Kenny (Jodi) Ellis, Sr.; brother, Richard Seeger; grandchildren: Ann Ellis, Ben Ellis, Sarah Hilgeman; Austin, Mallorie, Seth and Lacee Ellis; Tami, Scot, and Kenny Ellis, Jr., Tiffany and Tyler Ellis, Mike and Sarah Hodges; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Brady, Courtney, Brendan, Karley, and Aleah. Mr. Ellis was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Valora "Snooky".

Visitation will be 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., Friday July 23, 2005 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Services will begin at 7:30 p.m., immediately following visitation on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will take place 10:30 a.m., Saturday in Dayton at Willowview Cemetery.
