Age 58 of West Chester passed away Monday, October 26, 2009 at 5am. He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on July 30, 1951 the son of Roy and Betty (Cain) Yelton.
Roy was best known as the founder of Yelton's Fine Jewelry which was started in Hamilton, Ohio and is now located in West Chester, Ohio. Roy served in the military as a Marine and also served two years in the National Guard. After graduating from the police academy Roy worked as a Butler County Sherriff before joining Champion Paper as security and head of the union. It was while at Champion Roy discovered his true passion for jewelry and sales. He devoted most of his life to making people happy and enjoyed it so much that he became ordained in 2004 so that he could marry happy couples; many of which he sold their wedding rings to.
Roy enjoyed like most of us spending time with his family, especially his two grandsons. He loved to fish, travel and ride around on his trike. Roy was a member of the Monkey Mutual Aid Society in Hamilton and had been involved in numerous charities throughout his life.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, JoAnn Yelton of West Chester; one son, Mark Yelton and his wife Tina of Liberty Township; two grandsons, Ty and Trent Yelton; His mother-in-law Mae Mays of Hamilton; one sister, Marcia Poole; one brother, Chris Yelton; Several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews; Roy had many longtime friends including his adopted family of staff members at Yelton's Fine Jewelry. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy H. Yelton, Sr. and Betty Yelton; one brother Dennis Yelton; and his father-in-law, Earl Mays.
Public Visitation will be held Sunday, November 1, 2009 at Avance Funeral Home 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, Ohio 45014, from 2 - 5pm. Funeral services will be private at family's request.
The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jim Essell and Nurse Clinician Judy Steike; as well as the entire staff of the Bone Marrow Transplant ICU Unit at Jewish Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Patient Services in Cincinnati, Ohio.
