Sally Joan Jacobs Braun, 92, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Sally was born in Clinton, Iowa on May 10, 1934, to Roy Henry Jacobs and Luella Marie Jacobs. She graduated from Clinton High School, Jane Lamb Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Mount St. Joseph College, Thomas More College, and Xavier University with a Masters in EDU/Counseling.

Sally was a registered nurse who experienced all areas of nursing but especially loved school nursing at Sacred Heart School for 27 plus years.

She belonged to many organizations and service groups, including the Southwestern Ohio School Nurse Association, National Association of School Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau, Omicron Chi Chapter, Nursing Honorary, Hamilton/Fairfield Safety Council, Fairfield Women, P.E.O. (Philanthropic Education Organization), Butler County Mental Health Board, Fairfield Food Pantry Board, Hamilton/Fairfield Symphony Board and Guild, and the Fairfield Community Foundation Board.

A lifelong Presbyterian, she attended Northminster Presbyterian in Finneytown, Ohio and served as a Sunday school teacher, deacon, trustee, and elder over a 60-year span of service.

Awards received included the City of Fairfield Volunteer Spirit Award, The Sterling Uhler Rotary Award, the YWCA Outstanding Woman of Achievement Award, The Fairfield Community Foundation Kaleidoscope Award, and The Community Foundation Wall of Fame Award.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Nancy Jacobs Burgess, and her husband, William H. Braun.

Sally is survived by her daughters, Katherine Braun Pennell and her husband, John Pennell, whom she loved as a dear son, of Fairfield, Ohio, and Dr. Susan Braun Duggar of Spartanburg, South Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren Cynthia Stubenvoll (Joshua), Melissa Harner (Ryan), Steven Duggar (Brianna), and Dr. Lauren Duggar (Courtney). Her cherished great-grandchildren are Zoe Elise Harner, Amelia Rose Harner, Declan Jude Duggar, and Beckham Brooks Duggar. She is also survived by her nieces Sally Russell and Julie Walsh, and her nephew, Keith Burgess.

The Lord blessed Sally with a rich, full, and happy life. She had many wonderful friends and wishes to thank them for all the love and compassion they gave her. She was greatly blessed with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren with unconditional love and care.

Sally cannot forget to thank all her miniature dachshunds - Heidi, Snickle, Molly (who gave unconditional love), and Callie Rose (best dog ever!).

In lieu of flowers please consider her love of education and donate to the Fairfield Community Foundation, Sally Braun Scholarship Fund.

Her visitation will be on Thursday July 9, 2026, from 12:00-2:00 PM. The funeral will follow at 2:00 PM at Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, OH 45014. A private family burial will be on Friday July 10, 2026.
