Age 87 of West Chester passed away, Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Chesterwood Village. He was born April 5, 1922 in Washington D.C., the son of Lloyd and Isabel (McQuown) Wineberg. On June 3, 1944 Samuel married Fern Mae Sloneker. He served his country during WWII as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps and retired in 1984 from General Electric. Mr. Wineberg also served his community as one of the first Volunteer Firefighters in Fairfield.
Samuel had many hobbies which included: tropical fish; model trains; reading; stamp collecting; plants; and fishing.
He leaves behind his son, Mark D. (June) Wineberg; daughters, Sheryl A. Garrod, Janet M. (Gary) Scott, and Teresa L. Thomas; grandchildren, Christa (Greg) Sigman, Beth (Josh) Logsdon, Heather (Ron) Snell, William (Kristin) Wineberg, Holly (Shawn) Baker, Adam Thomas, and Alex Scott; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Sigman, Hannah Sigman, Haley Asbury-Thomas, Anna Mae Rose Snell, Enrique Logsdon and Brandi Logsdon. Samuel was preceded in death by his parents; and wife.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m., Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with his granddaughter, Rev. Beth Garrod-Logsdon officiating. Burial will follow at Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
