Sharon Lynn Phillips
October 15, 1954 — February 19, 2010
Age 55, adored and cherished wife of Dennis Phillips and beautiful mother to dear children, Michael Phillips, Jason Phillips, and Megan Phillips, passed away suddenly on Friday19, 2010. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on October 15, 1954, to Edward and Opal Downey. After graduating from Garfield High School in 1973, she earned her associate degree in nursing from Miami University in 1978. Sharon went on to work at University Hospital as a registered nurse for a number of years as the assistant head nurse of the post partum unit, later leaving to become a full time mom, her most loved role. Over the last ten years she worked at Fairfield South Elementary supporting the staff and students.
Sharon and Dennis were married on September 1, 1979, and were deeply devoted to one another for over thirty years. She is survived by her husband; children; mother, Opal Downey; brother, Dr. Thomas (Coralie) Downey of Northbrook, Illinois; many brothers and sisters in law; many nieces and nephews; and lifelong friend, Shirley (Jim) Howell. She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be 6 to 8pm, Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at the Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Road Fairfield, Ohio 45014. Service will be 10am, Thursday, February 25, 2010, also at the funeral home, with Rev. Ed Beck officiating. Burial will follow at Hickory Flat Cemetery in St. Clair Township.
