Tess Michelle (Courtney) Rhodus

Tess Michelle Rhodus (nee Courtney) - age 51, passed away on Tuesday, June 21st, 2022, at home. She was happily married to her husband Douglas Rhodus for over 25 years. Tess was born in March 1971, the third child of Ruthetta Singleton and Larry Courtney Sr. She dedicated her life to the education and wellbeing of others, getting her MSN in nursing and having a long career on the labor and delivery wing of Mercy Hospital and later teaching for Butler Tech before dedicating herself to voluntarism as a member of Joseph’s Legacy animal rescue.  She loved taking care of people, animals of all shapes and sizes (except spiders!) and working the grounds of the farm she had dreamed of having all her life. She will be remembered most for her compassion, which extended to family, friends, pets and even wayward turtles in the roadway. She is survived by her mother, her husband Douglas, their four children; Taylor, Dakota, Bai and DJ, two grandchildren; Tori and Riley; her brother Larry Courtney and her sister Tena Courtney; and more pets than can be counted. A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 28th, 2022, from 5 – 7:00PM at Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4676 Winton Road, Fairfield, Ohio, 45014.
