Theresa M. Ficocelli
Theresa M. Ficocelli, age 90 of Fairfield, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2005. She was born August 2, 1915 in Youngstown, Ohio, the last child of Vincenzo and Concetta (Parente) Ficocelli. She was a graduate of South High School in Youngstown.
Theresa was the original secretary and historian of the Youngstown, Ohio Symphony Orchestra, which her brothers Michael and Carmine co-founded. Her brother, Joseph, was a trombonist in the symphony and her sister, Lena, was a pianist. Theresa served from 1926-1952 with the orchestra. She also worked at the Record Rendezvous, where she met Vic Damone, and at Automatic Sprinkler, both in Youngstown.
After moving to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1956 she worked at Guarantee Abstract and at Humpe Roney Realtors. Theresa was a resident of St. Petersburg until she moved to Fairfield, Ohio two years ago with her sister.
Although she was preceded in death by her brothers, Michael, Carmine and Joseph Ficocelli; her sister, Lena Ficocelli Velardo; parents, Vincenzo and Concetta Ficocelli; she is survived by 7 nieces and nephews: Vincent Ficocelli, Elaine Ficocelli, Sandra Lepore Hittleman, Donna F. Meyers, Trudy A. Elliot, Theresa Marie Collins and Carmine V. Ficocelli, their spouses; 22 great and 12 great-great nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins who will all truly miss their "Fairy Godmother".
Theresa was an adroit seamstress and a talented cook. She was the keeper of memories and traditions for the Ficocelli Family. Faithful and loyal are two words that aptly describe her. Selfless, caring and loving towards friends and family alike, she opened her heart and home to entertain and to welcome them. She enjoyed concerts, operas, old movies, cooking, sewing and taking photos.
Theresa was a devout Catholic, who valued her relationship with God. She was meticulous in her organizational and secretarial skills.
The family wishes to thank the staffs at the Fairfield Pavilion, Mercy Franciscan at Schroder, Mercy Hospital, Internists of Fairfield and Dr. Paula Weisenberger.
