BLACK, Thomas Martin

Thomas Martin Black, 78, died Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at Hospice of Cincinnati following an extended illness.

He was born May 13, 1946, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Troy and Lowana (Haynes) Black.  He was a graduate of Lockland High School and the University of Cincinnati.

Tom proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969.  In November 1966, Tom married Carol Jean Reuscher and following his Marine Corps service, they settled down in the northern Cincinnati suburbs.  Tom was a whiz with numbers and during his long career as an accountant he worked for Procter and Gamble, H & R Block, the State of Florida, and Miami Valley Gaming.

Tom will be greatly missed by his wife of 58 years, Carol of Fairfield Township, OH; children Ed (Lisa), Ossian, IN, Tim, Fairfield Township, OH and Bob, Trenton, OH; and grandchildren Eddie, Kara, Aaron, Ellie, Molly and Jonah.  He leaves behind countless family members and friends who loved him dearly.   Tom was preceded in death by his parents, brother Richard and granddaughter Maggie Grace.

Tom enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and golfing with friends. He was actively involved in the Fairfield Optimist Club serving as Past President, board member, and Chairman of the Scholarship Committee.  He was a member of the VFW.  Tom was a member of the Fairfield Optimist Soccer Club and was involved in establishing the Mid-American Soccer Classic.

Visitation will be held at Avance Funeral Home, Fairfield, on Tuesday November 26 beginning at 11am.  Funeral services will be at 12:30pm with Pastor Cecil Day officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Springdale.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, Hospice of Cincinnati, or the charity of your choice.
