WATERS, Thomas Russell, PhD, age 62, a cycling enthusiast, died October 29, after sustaining injury from an accident doing what he loved. He was born on September 22, 1952 in Akron, Ohio to Ernie and Vivian Waters. He spent his childhood in Lutz, Florida where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca Williams, his wife of nearly 43 years. Following his graduation from the University of South Florida, he accepted a position at Cincinnati VA as a Research Scientist. Tom held advanced degrees in engineering science and biomechanics from UC. He was a Research Physiologist and Safety Engineer for NIOSH for 24 years. Tom was recognized internationally in his field, yet he remained humble and generous with his time, energy, resources, and love to all. He was an active member of the Fairfield Church of Christ and Pathways Church. Tom loved skiing, music, swimming volleyball, basketball, tennis, golf, square dancing, and camping. He lived life to the fullest and honored God while doing it! Tom is the beloved husband of Rebecca; loving father of Allison (David) Curran, Danielle (Tim) Morrow, and Kendall (Scott) Nash; engaging grandfather of Joshua and Spencer Curran, Jeremiah, Matthias, and Rebekah Morrow, and Eleanora and Jolene Nash. He is also survived by his dear mother- in- law, Nora Williams; siblings, Richard (Lou) Waters, Ronald (Jackie) Waters, and Christy (Tony) Osborn; nieces, nephews, and friends. Tom is preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be Monday, November 3, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Fairfield Church of Christ, 745 Symmes Rd., Fairfield, Ohio 45014. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the church or Young Life- OH 35.
