Virginia M. Campbell / August 21, 1924 - June 16, 2011
Virginia M. Campbell, age 86, of Springfield Twp. Ohio passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, June 16, 2011. Virginia was born "Virginia Marie Solazzo" on August 21, 1924 to Italian parents Frank and Marie Solazzo, in Hamilton, Ohio. After her graduation from Fairfield High School, Virginia - "Ginny" - worked at Wright's during the war and eventually into positions with Hamilton, Fairfield and County Courts. She was a lifetime member of both the Women's American-Italian Society and the V.F.W. Women's Auxiliary. Before the death of her husband, William A. Campbell, they enjoyed winter vacationing in Florida, and maintaining a permanent summer camping site in the Brookville Lake area with other family and friends. Since her husband's passing in 2002, Ginny has lived independently at her Regency Run condo home and as long as she could hitch a ride, was a frequent visitor to the Indiana casinos and area bingo games - in particular the now-gone Seven Hills Bingo where she was catered to and loved by their employees. Virginia loved being with people - the more the merrier - and she loved her church, St. John Neumann where she always felt at home. Preceding her in death were her daughter Denise (Lema) Ellington in 1997, her husband William A. Campbell in 2002, two brothers Carl and Dominic, and three sisters, Mary, Edith and Lena. Virginia is survived by two sisters, Mickey (Solazzo) Palmieri, Francie (Solazzo) Marshall and brother-in-law James Marshall; daughter Jacalyn Bowling and beloved son-in-law Timothy Bowling, and one granddaughter, Meredith Charles. In addition there are nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, from both her Solazzo family and her inherited Campbell family that she loved and remembered, as well as Campbell grand-children and great-grand children. Visitation will be Monday June20th from 5pm - 8pm at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday June 21st at 10:30am at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 12191 Mill Rd. Cincinnati, followed by interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3229 Burnett Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45229. Condolences may be offered at www.avancefuneralhome.com
