Virginia Garretson

Virginia L. "Ginny" Garretson, age 83 of Hamilton passed away Wednesday November 23, 2005 at Adams County Hospital. She was born July 14, 1922 in Covington, KY, the daughter of Leo and Jennie (Wert) Geiger. On May 23, 1942 she married Fred T. Garretson in Ft. Thomas, KY. Ginny graduated from Beechwood School and later obtained her B.A. degree in Education from Miami University. She taught in the Hamilton City Schools until her retirement in 1985.

Ginny always enjoyed music and proudly was a member of the Harmonettes of Hamilton and the Promises Club of Middletown. She especially enjoyed her time spent with her Wednesday Girls' Lunch Group. Ginny worked many years as a Poll Worker for the Butler County Board of Elections and was also a member of the Butler County Classroom Teachers' Association. Ginny enjoyed a wide variety of interests, especially traveling throughout all 50 states and numerous foreign countries with her beloved husband Fred. She was a dedicated friend, mother, grandmother and coach's wife.

Although Ginny enjoyed many passions with others, her most important time spent was with her loving family. She is survived by her husband of over 63 years, Fred T. Garretson; sons, Don (Teri) Keller of Hudson, FL, Bob (Jane) Garretson of Glendale, OH, Jack (Tara) Garretson of West Chester, OH, Dave (Judy) Garretson of Monroe, OH, Steve Garretson of West Union, OH and Pat (Jeannie) Garretson of Hamilton, OH; 11 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and sister, Ruth Gettel of Sebring, FL. Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; son, James Lee Garretson in 1946.

The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m., Monday November 28, 2005 until time of memorial service (6 p.m.) at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hamilton Community Foundation Scholarship Fund, 319 N. Third St., Hamilton, OH 45011 .
