Virginia L. Hammock

Age 80 of Fairfield, Ohio passed away Monday, February 8, 2010 at Mercy South Hospital, Fairfield. She was born December 17, 1929 in Lincoln County, TN, the daughter of Raymond and Denia (Moore) Thompson. She was reared by her aunt and uncle, Newt and Bessie Thompson. She was a member of the Church of Christ and retired from K-Mart in 1992 after 25 years of service in supervision.

Ginny was preceded in death by husband William H. Stephens, father of her six children; Charles P. Hammock; and also her loving companion, Robert (Bobby) Lexow.

She is survived by daughters: Deania (Jim) Hurst, Cornelia (Ronnie) Murray, Patty Gerdes, Teresa (Mark) Durbin, and Candi Childs; Grandchildren Michael Hamilton, Shannon Grathwohl, Sean Murray, Michelle Moran, Aaron Gerdes, and Emily Durbin; great-grandchildren Ashley Baker, Erika Grathwohl, Taylor Moran, Maggie and Allie Gerdes, Brittany, Alex, Kristain, Olivia, Madison, and Logan Hamilton; brother, Buster (Marie) Thompson; and several nieces and nephews.

Ginny was preceded in death by her parents; aunt and uncle; son, Anthony Stephens; and brother, Tom Thompson.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Mercy South, 3A and ICU for their outstanding care of our mother.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. (EST), Thursday, February 11, 2010 at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winston Road, Fairfield, OH 45014. The service will be at 10:00 am (EST) Friday, February 12, 2010 at the funeral home with Charles Anderson, minister of Laurel Avenue Church of Christ, Hamilton, OH officiating. Interment will follow the service at Rose Hill Burial Park, Hamilton, OH. Pallbearers are: Jim Hurst, Ronnie Murray, Mark Durbin, Mike Hamilton, Sean Murray, and Aaron Gerdes. Memorials may be made to the Animal Friends Humane Society, 1820 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011.
