Age 89, passed away June 15, 2010, at the Berkeley Square Retirement Center. She was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 6, 1920, the daughter of Leonard L. Richardson and Mabel (Doty) Richardson. She is a graduate of Hamilton High School and Butler County Business School. On October 14, 1942, she married James E. Tankersley in Lynchburg, Virginia.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hamilton and a retiree of Proctor & Gamble Co., being employed as secretary in the Engineering Division. Virginia loved the out-of-doors, flowers and gardening. She spent many hours hiking and walking, fishing and boating. She also was an avid Ohio State football fan. She and her husband, Jim, traveled extensively, having visited every State of the Union, including Alaska and Hawaii, the Caribbean, and seven countries in Europe.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James on July 19, 2006; parents, and a brother, E. Donald Richardson. She is suvived by her son, James Joseph Tankersley, daughter in law, Sue Ann Tankersley, two grandchildren, Brandon J. Tankersley and Alyssa (Chris) Angel; and great grandson, Ethan R. Angel.
Visitation will be 1:30pm until time of service (2:30pm), Friday, June 18, 2010 at the Avance Funeral Home with Dr. Dennis Metzger and William Brantingham officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton.
