Walter Lee Campbell

January 12, 1928 — June 30, 2008

Age 80 of Fairfield, passed away Monday, June 30, 2008. He was born January 12, 1928, in Welchburg, Kentucky, the son of Louis and Pearl (Hall) Campbell. Walter married Laverne Volz at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hamilton, on February 2, 1949. He retired from C &C Excavating in 1978, of which he was part owner. Walter loved to go fishing at Lake Cumberland, and hunting in Jackson, Wyoming. Walter was a United States Air Force Veteran. He was a member of Fairfield Optomist Club, the Izaak Walton League, and the Fairfield VFW Post 1069.

Walter is survived by his wife, Laverne (Volz) Campbell; their 10 children, Jay (Darlene) Campbell, David (Sandy) Campbell, Gary (Sherry) Campbell, Rick (Judy) Campbell, Scott Campbell, Darlene (John) Hamilton, Debbie Moore (Gary Waggoner), Kathy (Les) Olson, Pam Hodges, and Lisa Campbell; 3 sisters, Joy Dilyerd, Polly Campbell, and Judy Culp; 22 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 10 siblings; and 3 grandsons, David Jr., Shane, and Mark.

Visitation will be 6pm - 8pm, Wednesday July 2, 2008 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield. Funeral Mass will be 10am Thursday, July 3, 2008 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 400 Nilles Rd, Fairfield, with burial to follow at St Mary's Cemetery. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Tri-County Extended Care for the wonderful care of Walter over the last five months. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Hamilton.
