William age, 88 of Finneytown passed away on November 17, 2013. Bill was born on December 24, 1924 in Ridgely, TN to Walter and Annie Laurie (nee Rigby) Cates. He is the beloved husband of 68 years to Emily (nee Porter); loving father of Scott (Mary) Cates, Betsy (Eric) Ettensohn, David Cates, and Steve (Molly) Cates; dear grandfather of James, Katy, Heidi, Lindsay, Evan, Libby, Mark, Jennifer, Rob, and Mandy; great grandfather of 11; brother, Robert (Jean) Cates. He served his country in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. After receiving his degree in Electrical Engineering he worked for Proctor and Gamble until his retirement in 1984. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother Charles W. Cates; and a granddaughter Samantha Cates. Visitation will be Saturday December 7, 2013 from 10:30-11 a.m. with a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Chapel, 2145 Compton Rd, Mt. Healthy, OH 45231.
