William Warner Godbey

GODBEY

William (Bill) Warner, 96, of Fairfield, Ohio went home to heaven on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. He was at home surrounded by his family as they surrendered him from their loving arms to the arms of his Lord. He is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Beulah (Morgan) Godbey, loving daughters and son-in-law, Rayetta Murphy, Bernetta (Gene) Mize, cherished grandchildren Denise Hale, Christa (Will) Hughes, Paige (Ken) Heitfield and dear great-grandsons Austin Hale and Harrison Heitfield. Bill was born on August 17, 1914 in Casey County Kentucky, the son of the late Jacob C. and Artie (Durham) Godbey.

He married Beulah (Morgan) Godbey on October 11, 1941 in Liberty, Ky. Bill proudly served and protected his country as a Medical Corpsman in the United States Army during WW II from January 28, 1942 to October 24,1945. He and Beulah farmed in Henry County, Ky. until they moved to Hamilton, Ohio in 1956. Bill was employed by the Sheffer Corporation in Blue Ash as a hydraulics specialist retiring in 1980. He accepted Christ as his Savior September 4, 1932 and served Him as a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church and Point Pleasant Christian Church for 24 years, North 7th Street Church of Christ in Hamilton, for 27 years and Fairfield Church of Christ for the last 27 years. His Christian legacy and fine example of family dedication will live on through his children and grandchildren.

He is also survived by brother, Thomas Godbey, sister, Irene Eoff, and many loving nieces, nephews, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Artie (Durham) Godbey; brothers, Jeff Godbey and John Godbey, sister, Anna Sims and granddaughter, Jennifer Casey Murphy.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Cincinnati for all their loving care and support. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati 4360 Cooper Rd Cincinnati, OH 45242.

Family and friends may celebrate his life by joining together on Sunday, December 19, 2010 at Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd, Fairfield Ohio from 2-4 pm Funeral services will be Monday, December 20, 2010 at 11 am. Dave Hargrave & Dave Phillips officiating.
