William J. Halcomb

December 14, 1932 — January 25, 2010

Age 77, passed away peacefully in his residence on January 25, 2010. He was born in Scoville, Kentucky the son of the late Raymond and Beatrice (McPherson) Halcomb. Beloved brother of the late Hilda (Halcomb) Wilson and Great Uncle of the late Tyler Bailey and Hayden Matthew Null. He is survived by his sister, Rebecca (Halcomb) Carpenter; brother in law, Richard Carpenter; sister, Carol S. (Halcomb) Bakeman; brother in law, John Bakeman; brother, Charles W. Halcomb; sister in law, Dorothy Halcomb; brother in law, Robert Wilson; two aunts, Del Grafner and Mildred Herndon; numerous nieces and nephews, including name sake, one month old Carson William Null. He was a 1950 graduate of Hamilton High School and a veteran of the Korean War. He lived a long and fulfilled life and retired from the B&O / CSX railroad and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a big follower and fan of the Kentucky Wild Cats. He will be remembered by his family and friends as a very generous, benevolent and loving man. He touched many lives, including people he did not know, by his donations to worthy charities. He never missed a monthly meeting with his fellow railroad retirees at Pearls restaurant. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his harvest with others.

Visitation will be 11am until time of service (1pm), conducted by Chaplain John Spring, January 29, 2010 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd. Fairfield, Ohio 45014. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Rd Hamilton, Ohio 45011. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Cincinnati, 4310 Cooper Rd Cincinnati, Ohio 45242. (Please designated local agency Hospice of Hamilton)
