William A. "Bill" Schrand Sr.

SCHRAND William A. Sr., “Bill”, age 92, of Fairfield passed away on May 24, 2014. He was born in Covington, KY on May 3, 1922 to William and Mary (nee Feld) Schrand. Bill married Marcella “Micki” Straehle on February 9, 1946; they were married for 68 years. He is survived by his beloved wife “Micki”; much loved children, William Scharand Jr., Kenneth (Judy) Schrand, Richard Schrand, Judith (Jeff) Lawrence, Mark (Carmen) Schrand, and Donald Schrand; dear grandfather of 14; great grandfather of 9. Bill is also survived by his brother, Carl Schrand; nieces, nephews, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter in law Diane Schrand. Bill served his country during WWII in the Army Air Corps where he attained the ranking of Corporal. He was in Rome, Southern France, Northern France, Central Europe, and the Rhineland. Bill was awarded the EAME Theater Ribbon with 5 bronze stars, Distinguished Unit Badge, and the Good Conduct Medal. Visitation will be Wednesday May 28, 2014 from 5-7 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church, 400 Nilles Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014 on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Larry Tharp officiating. Entombment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
