Dennis Greg Rhodus of Hamilton, OH passed away on September 14, 2023, as the result of a long illness. Denny was 63 years old.
Dennis was born in Hamilton, OH to Alvin Gene Rhodus and Marilyn Miller Rhodus. As a child Denny enjoyed spending time with his grandparents Vera and George Miller as well as his siblings and large extended family. Dennis was an active Boy Scout and earned the rank of “Eagle Scout” from Troop 984 out of Fairfield Township.
Dennis was a drummer and worked around the Cincinnati area for several years, most recently with the Nickel Night Band. His love of music drove him to acquire an extensive collection of LPs and purchase a vintage Jukebox to pay his collection of 45’s. In addition, he loved model trains collecting them and being active in the model train community for his entire life.
His big heart enabled him to work with the special needs community of Butler County for most of his life. All his clients loved Denny and his ability to accept, relate and communicate with them every day. And he loved them! He drove patients to and from their place or work or to doctors’ appointments for over 30 years! His special gift was to see and appreciate everyone! He treated all like family.
Denny worked for his Uncle Mitch for several years where their customers were constantly amazed at his ability to remember everything about them. He loved this job as it allowed him to spend time with family and work with clients where his ability to never forget a person, place or date could be put to use.
Dennis was also a storyteller, with an interest in history and genealogy where he would spend countless hours looking up the Rhodus heritage. He loved to share his experiences with his friends at the Fairfield Waffle House where he was well known and where he would frequently visit with his dad and Grandpa Dick Rhodus.
Dennis was preceded in death by his father, mother, and stepmother Janice Rhodus. He is survived by his daughter Emily Dianne Rhodus, his sister Sheri (Mike) Hardesty and Doug Rhodus and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m. – until time of service (11 a.m.), Thursday, September 28, 2023, at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH with Brian Schreiber officiating. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Condolences may be offered at www.avancefuneralhome.com
