Ernest “Ernie” Lee Allen

September 29, 1934 – June 3, 2021

ALLEN, Ernest “Ernie”  Lee, of Hamilton, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2021 at the age of 86. He was passionate about sports and spent much of his youth and young adulthood playing in softball leagues. Ernie was a tool systems engineer and retired from Kennametal.  He was a hard worker and could be found in the garage or yard where he used innovative ways to complete projects. Ernie spent time collecting black walnuts, shoveling for sharks teeth in Emerald Isle, NC and Venice, FL,  solving sudoku puzzles, and making the best peanut brittle. He was a generous man who extended a helping hand without hesitation.

Ernie is survived by wife Peggy (Cameron) Allen of 66 years.

Ernie is lovingly remembered by his children Cindy (Greg) Pate of Goose Creek, SC, Ron (Rebecca) Allen of Bradenton, FL, grandchildren Sarah (Kaveh) Jokar Deris of Kirkland, WA , Mark (Sarah) Allen of Charlotte, NC, Chris Pate and fiancé Jennifer Rogers of Rochester, MI, Megan (Cody) Rowland of Fair Oaks, IN, Aaron (Kimmy) Allen of Cleves, OH, and Matt (Kristina) Pate of West Lafayette, IN, as well as great-grandchildren Elliah, Weston, Ryker, Madeline and Roman whom he treasured.

Ernie is preceded in death by his parents, Wood and Mae (Jones) Allen, brothers Paul, Don and Maury Allen and son Doug Allen.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 8, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. - until time of service (1:30 p.m.) at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield with Jack Young officiating.  Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton.
