Francis Anthony Martorana, poet, musician, lover of the natural world and all of its creatures died on Monday, December 27, 2021 in West Chester Ohio from complications due to Covid.
Frank was born in New York City on June 30, 1946. He entered the world five minutes before his twin sister Myrna (Roger) Uhlich who survives him. He was preceded in death by his sister Carolyn and by parents Francis Thomas Martorana and Irma Povodnich Martorana. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Kushniroff Martorana, the mother of his sons Martin and Franklin and by his second wife Beverley Lemke Martorana.
Frank graduated from Iona College in1968 and his business career focused on sales and sales analysis. His passion however was the written word and the original music he created with his guitar. Once he retired, he and Beverley started a ministry to perform for elderly residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. He was a people person in every sense of the word lifting up through the attention of his lovely hazel eyes those in pain and despair or the just plain lonely. Frank took time for every person he met. He read widely and shared devotionals and positive messages on one of the most loving Facebook pages you will ever find. His family in Ohio began with Dorothy’s sister Christine (Bill) Pappas, their children Dorie (Ralph) Mitchell and their twin daughters Alexa and Elena and Lex (Amanda) Pappas, daughters Layla and Serena. sister Terry (Harold) Dunn, their children Liz Martin, David (Sarah) Martin, their daughters Tesla and River, and brother Harry (Gretchen) Kushniroff , John (Heidi) Kushniroff, children Lucy and Jack. Ali (Daniel) Carter, sons Bowen and Declan. He was greatly proud and loved deeply each of his sons Martin (Jeandrea) grandsons Ethan and Jake and his son Franklin. He also dearly loved his stepsons, Daryl and Doug Lemke and their children and grandchildren
He was blessed to have found a third beautiful woman to love, his partner Deb Gardner.
His extended family of cousins span coast to coast.
Frank was defined by his faith and devoted to his church family at the Tri County Assembly of God.
Honor his memory forever when you stop to pay deep loving attention to another person or creature. See his beauty in the birds, the deer, and especially the cats who could spot him from afar.
Remember him in poetry and music, in beautiful quiet mornings, in star filled nights and peace filled days.
Godspeed dear loving troubadour
Love always, your twin Myrna and your loving family and friends.
