Gail Lynne McMahan, age 64, of Hamilton passed away Friday, January 10th, at 7:30 a.m. at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was born on November 6, 1955 in Hamilton, Ohio, the daughter of the late Russell and Catherine (Gillespie) McMahan. She was a 1974 graduate of Taft High School and a 1978 graduate of Morehead State with a degree in Business Administration. After graduation, Gail followed her heart and dreams and moved to Yellowstone National Park, where she eventually became controller of Mammoth Hot Springs. For six years she lived her dream, until her accident in 1985. Gail returned to Hamilton, where she found her job as Finance Director of St. Joseph Orphanage. Gail worked for SJO for over twenty years.She loved her job and she met and worked with some wonderful people, until her eyesight failed and forced her into retirement in 2012. Gail loved her adventures with her family and spoiling her nieces and nephews. Vacations, traveling, birthdays and holidays were all very special to Gail. Her family was her greatest love.
Gail is survived by her brothers, Gary and wife, Beth McMahan, and Randy McMahan; sisters, Tari and husband Jon Lawson and Donna Couch. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Kevin McMahan, Emily (Ashley) Oliver, Rachel McMahan, Aaron (Emma) McMahan, Otto (Dorian) Halloway, and Lloyd Jackson; great nieces, who were the apple of aunt Gail’s eye, Katelynn, MyKailah, Laykin, Clara and Carolina, as well as numerous other family members. She also leaves her two fur babies, Kodi and Madi.
Gail lived a wonderful life and has filled her family with beautiful memories. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Sunday, January 19, 2020 from 2-3 p.m. until time of service at 3 p.m. at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield 45014. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or the American Diabetes Association.
