Herbert R. Lindsay, age 86 of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, September 26, 2013. He was born June 4, 1927 to the late Gilbert and Edna Lindsay. On June 23, 1945 in Newport, KY he married his wife Elaine Lindsay (Schreiber). In 1988, he retired as a supervisor from the Lebanon Correction Facility. He was WWII veteran serving with the US Army, a member of Redeemer Church, American Legion, V.F.W., Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, Washington Lodge F&AM # 17, the Monkeys and the Syrian Shriners of Cincinnati. He also served as a special deputy with the Butler County Sheriffs Office.
He is survived by his daughters Cheryl Sawyers, Deborah (Charles) Brewer, Elaine (Robert) Jones and Kelly (Larry) Doty; his brothers Myrl (Rita) Lindsay and Jim (Shirley) Lindsay; his sisters Audrey (Bob) Kilgour, Donna Jean Arthur, Patricia Madden and Marilyn Lindsay; his grandchildren Carolyn, Cyndi, Annette, Charlie, Scott, Kyle, Matt and Ashley; also survived by 12 great grandchildren, friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his son in law Donald Sawyers.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, October 1, 2013 from 1030AM - 12PM at the Avance Funeral Home and Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield 45014 with Scottish Rite services beginning at 1130AM and funeral service following. Pastor Kim Katterheinrich will be officiating. Burial to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Donations may be sent to Shriner's Burns Institute, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cinti 45229.
