Imogene (Colwell) Hughes

Imogene Hughes, age 88, of Fairfield Ohio passed on Friday, January 17, 2020 surrounded by love. She was born on September 7, 1931 in Hazard, Kentucky, the daughter of Martin and Mallie (Campbell) Colwell.

She was educated in the Kentucky and Ohio public schools, graduating from Hamilton High School in 1951. On June 30, 1951 in Hamilton, Ohio she married Karroll Hughes. She was employed as a City of Fairfield school bus driver for many years and retired from Marsh Supermarkets as a manager.

She is survived by her sister, Geneva (John) Dooley; children, Sherri (Jayme) Leonard, Karen (Gary) Hart and Steve Hughes; grandchildren, Heather (Kevin) Fritsch, Bryan Hughes, Christina Hughes(Josh Martin), Jason (Jamie) Roesch, Tara (Brittainy) Brown, Kyle Roesch, Erika, Tyler, Brooke & Kellie Leonard; great grandchildren: Emily Hughes, Max & Liam Fritsch, Skylar Hughes, Bryn Martin, Chase & Quinn Roesch and Emersyn & Caiden Brown; along with many loving nieces and nephews. She also leaves her friends & travel companions of many years; Etta, Sharon & Dottie. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Eugene Colwell. Funeral Services will be held at the Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Road, Fairfield, Ohio 45014. Visitation will be Friday January 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home followed by burial in Rose Hill Burial Park.

In lieu of flowers, it was Imogene’s wish that donations be made to either The American Heart Association & Breast Cancer Awareness.
