JACOBY, Sr. James Richard “Jim”
Age 67 of Fairfield passed away Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at his residence. He was born June 29, 1946 in Hamilton, the son of George A. and Myrtle L. (Rueff) Jacoby. Jim served his country in the US Army from 1968-1970, and was a Vietnam Veteran. On July 17, 1971 he married Alice Lynne Weaver in Oxford, OH. A graduate of Miami University in Oxford, he earned a degree of B.S. in Applied Science in 1968. Jim served on Board of Trustees of Miami Valley Industries from 1985-1998, and President from 1988-1998. He also was active with Butler County ARC and a member of Fairfield CERT team. Jim worked for Mosler Safe Co., Hamilton, OH 1968-1972; Central Steel Wire Co., Cincinnati, OH 1972-1993; Prudential Insurance, Hamilton, OH 1993-1994; Aristech Acrylics, LLC, Florence, KY 1995-2007, retiring in 2007. Jim also enjoyed coaching and refereeing FOSA in the 80’s and 90’s.
Mr. Jacoby leaves behind his children, James R. Jacoby, Jr. “Jay” and Melissa “Lissa” Jacoby; and sister, Sandra Jacoby. He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife.
Visitation will be 5p.m.-until time of funeral service and prayers (7p.m.), Monday, June 2, 2014 at the Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH 45014 with Father Larry Tharp officiating.
