Jo Anne Spurrier Morner passed away in Hamilton, Ohio 02/15/2021 at the age of 76 after a 12 year battle with MBC. She was born at Maxwell Air Force base in Montgomery, Alabama on September 23, 1945. As the daughter of an Air Force officer her love for travel began at an early age as her father was stationed around the country and world. His career brought him back to Wright Patterson Air Force Base and the family back to Dayton. Upon graduating from Fairborn HS she studied nursing at City Hospital in Springfield, Ohio and General Hospital in Cincinnati where she completed her training as a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. She provided anesthesia services to area patients for over 40 years primarily at Fort Hamilton Hospital. She was involved in several community organizations. Through the Fort Hamilton Colleagues she initiated the SEEK (surgical education for elementary students) program, for which she gained a community service award. She also hosted and befriended over 10 Rotary exchange students from all over the world. She remained in contact with most of them and enjoyed sharing their life experiences. After her children left the nest, she and her husband traveled extensively visiting as many exchange students as possible. She was preceded in death by: grandparents, the Honorable Earl and Hazel Lewis and Rev. Percy and Jeanette Spurrier; parents, Col. Paul and Elizabeth Spurrier; in-laws, Robert and Elaine Morner; sisters-in-law Lynne Harrison and Deb Morner. She is survived by Rick her loving husband of 48 years; 3 children, Karla (Bill) Fishburn, Ryon (Kat) Morner, and Derek (Lindsey) Morner; grandchildren, Joiya, Japheth, Kyra, Danyka, Will, and Kennedy; brother Dave (Linda) Spurrier; brothers-in-law Don Morner and Dan Harrison; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was a very friendly person and has many cherished friends from her education, professional, and community associations.
Funeral services will be private at the family's convenience. A celebration of life is being planned for the future. Any family or friends wishing to attend should send their contact information to
