Joseph Paul Miller

Joseph (Joe) Paul Miller, 94, of Mason, OH, passed away Monday, June 12, 2023 .

Joe is survived by his daughters Lynn (Richard) Shimkus; Bobbie Jo (Tom) Cramer; son Joey (Kathy) Miller; daughter Jill (Jim) Carl; and son Sam (Leah) Miller. He is also survived by his grandchildren Bill, Kelly, Michael, Andrew, Sam, Jimmy, Rachel, Anne, Carrie, Michelle and Dan; as well as 27 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by his beloved wife Nancy Elizabeth Miller (Mills), whom he married on May 16, 1953, as well as his parents Joseph John Miller and Clara Ruth Miller (Roney), and his brother Jim Miller. 

Born March 29, 1929 in Southgate, KY, he graduated with a mathematical degree from the University of Cincinnati. He had a number of interesting jobs before he began his career as an engineer and manager with General Electric.  

Joe loved to travel and enjoyed planning camping trips with his wife and children. He especially enjoyed our National Parks and visited many of them on his travels. He and his wife Nancy actually lived “on the road” for several years after retirement, traveling as far away as Alaska and Newfoundland, Canada. His children fondly remember watching slide shows he created and still enjoy doing so when together. He also loved boating and taught classes with the U. S. Power Squadron for a number of years, including Celestial Navigation. 

Joe’s great passion was playing his clarinet which he did until shortly before his death. He played semi-professionally when young and enjoyed playing in several community bands while living in North Port, Florida after retirement.

Joe made a decision for Christ the week of his 94th birthday and is now in heaven with Jesus.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family later this year.
