In loving memory of Karen Sue Jones - 7/29/1949 – 1/5/2021
Karen Jones of Jacksonburg, Ohio, passed away suddenly on January 5, 2021 at Miami Valley Hospital. Karen was born to William Quinn Jones and Mary Iona Jones in Ohio on 7/29/1949, and was the oldest of three siblings.
Karen was preceded in death by her father, Bill Jones, and her sister, Brenda Burress. Karen is survived by her mother, Iona Jones, her brother, Dennis (Holly) Jones, her niece, Jessica Jones (Rick Britan), nephew, Brandon Burress, her niece, Erin McIntosh, great-nieces and nephews, Grace Glass, Lily Glass, and Jace McIntosh, her dogs, Jake and TJ, and many other loving relatives and friends. She is also survived by her best friend and partner-in-crime, Sandy Landers, who spent countless hours with Karen – laughing with her, caring for her when she was ill, and with her every step of the way to the end.
Karen loved two things more than anything – her dogs, and cooking for friends and family. She spoke out against social injustice every chance she had, and her mission was to rescue dogs, one dog at a time (or up to 7 dogs at a time – yes, she had 7 dogs at once!). Karen had a dry, sarcastic wit, and loved to make others laugh. She retired from Cincinnati Financial Corporation in July, 2011, and had many friends from work, with whom she shared her cooking, laughs, and many fond memories.
In accord with Karen’s wishes, no memorial service is planned. If desired, memorials may be made in her honor to Animal Friends Humane Society in Hamilton, Ohio.
