LEVENGOOD
Michael Edward, age 78, of Akron, Ohio, passed away on Sunday May 24, 2020. He was born on May 7, 1942 to the late Raymond Michael and Caroline Lovina (Bleininger) Levengood.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Levengood (Hurst); ex-wife Judy Duffie; daughter Sharon Capehart (James); sons Kenny Roberts (Sonja) and Paul Roberts; sister-in-law’s Alberta Levengood and Sharon Levengood; grandsons Brandon Cox, Jacob Roberts, and Zachary Roberts; nieces and nephews Carol, George and Perry Beth; and by many other friends and family. He is also preceded in death by his brothers John Perry and Gerald Neal.
Mike went to Keene High School near Coshocton, Ohio. After graduating, he attended Ohio University on a baseball scholarship where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education. He taught English, Speech, and Math. He also coached football and basketball for 4 years.
Mike worked as a salesman for most of his career (ABS Contractors Supply for 22 years and retired from Art’s Rental after 18 years). He was an avid sports fan to the Bengals, Reds, and the Bearcats. Mike enjoyed reading, jigsaw and crossword puzzles and to play racquetball, darts, and bowling. He also loved to cook, he and his friend Richard would cook for hours.
Mike had a passion for learning about history and had volunteered at the Cincinnati Museum Center where he gave tours at the Cincinnati Heritage Program. In 2012 he and Connie moved to Newburgh, Indiana where he volunteered at Historic Newburgh INC. Once a year, at Halloween, he would tell the ghost story about the Steamboat Missouri and roast chestnuts on an open fire at Christmas time. Mike lived life.
