MOLLIE FRANCES (McCARTHY) McCLELLAN

Mollie Frances (McCarthy) McClellan 94 went to be with the Lord on February 12, 2015. She was born on February 1, 1921 in Russell, Kentucky to Daniel and Merza McCarthy.

Mollie met Oliver McClellan at Blue Ribbon Ice Cream and they were married for 60 years. They had 9 children, Daniel McClellan, Sharon Farmer, Mick McClellan, Diane (Stan) Knodel, Maureen (Scott) Brainard, Kevin McClellan, Pat (Kathy) McClellan, Anita McClellan-Talmadge and Brian (Brenda) McClellan.

Once Oliver retired, they spent the rest of their days together in St. Petersburg, Florida. When Oliver passed away, Mollie began the next chapter of her life. She went to live with her daughter Anita and her granddaughters Whitney and Caitlin. During this time, she was blessed to be able to travel the world and loved the adventures they went on.  She also managed the kitchen of her daughters Anita and Maureen’s restaurant The Firehouse.

To her family and friends, she was known affectionately as Muz, a name given to her by her eldest granddaughter Sassy, later she was given the name of Mimi by her youngest granddaughter Caitlin. Mollie was a homemaker that loved cooking, hosting big family dinners, gardening, reading magazines and watching Guiding Light.  She was loved by all that knew her. Her strength and resilience was amazing.  She always had a helping hand and often took in family when they needed her.

She is survived by her children Kevin, Anita and Pat. Sister Theresa (Jerry) ,Sister in Law Helen McClellan,Niece Judy Bumbalough, Daughter in Law Brenda McClellan, Grandchildren Sherry “Sassy” Toll, Robbie Demos, Kelly (Harry) Bajusz, Shay (Doug) Brumbaugh, Coby Farmer, Nicole (Bill) Hatten, Whitney (Adam) Sich, Kara McClellan, Heather McClellan, Fahlen Saxon, Kayla (Kevin)  McClellan-Katz, Caroline (Omar) McClellan-Rivera, Casi (Rob) Egli, Niko (Emily) McClellan, Caitlin Talmadge and 16 great- grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Oliver, siblings Buddy, Irene, Barbara, Katherine and Bo, her children Daniel, Sharon, Mick, Maureen, Diane and Brian.

A graveside inurnment will be 11 a.m.,  Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Mary Cemetery, 4030 Pleasant Ave., Hamilton, OH   45015.  Donations may be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation at www.amyloidosis.org .  Condolences may be offered at www.avancefuneralhome.com .  Avance Funeral Home & Crematory, Fairfield is serving the family.
