Opal Janice Rush was born on February 21st, 1940 in Laurel County Kentucky, the daughter of the late Lee Nicholson and Hermia Murrell. She is survived by a daughter Sherry Campbell and husband Gary, a son Stacy Rush and wife Sharon, 4 grandchildren Jenna Campbell Rowell (Sam) Janson Campbell (Matt) Nathan Rush and Jessica Rush. 2 great grandchildren Rylee Rowell and Tucker Rowell. 9 siblings Betty Russell, Beatrice Brown, Roger Nicholson and wife Wanda, Wayne Nicholson and wife Peggy, Jean Nicholson, Jimmy Nicholson, Brenda Bekemeier, Larry Nicholson and wife Pam and Tommy Nicholson As well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her passing. She was preceded in death by 6 siblings Beulah Weatherall, Eula King, Gladys Cheek, Ronnie Nicholson, Darl Nicholson and Gordon Nicholson. Opal graduated from Bush Highschool in 1958 moving to Hamilton, Ohio shortly after. She worked for Cincinnati Bell as a telephone operator for many years before going to work at Avon Products, retiring in 2009 after 32 years. Opal loved spending time cooking for friends and family and took great pride in her home with her greatest passion being her yard, where she spent endless hours gardening. She was a lifetime college basketball fan and became a fan of FC Cincinnati in later years. Opal loved to travel, and most of all loved talking with people and her beloved cat Greyson. Opal departed this life much too soon, April 29th 2023 surrounded by her loved ones. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 5 – 7 PM at the Avance Funeral Home, 4976 Winton Rd., Fairfield, OH, 45014. Funeral service will be Friday morning at 10:30 AM at the funeral home.
