We are sad to announce the passing of Patricia Carol Brennan, at her home in Lindenwald, Hamilton, Ohio on October 12th, 2023. She was 65 years old. Patty (as she is known by friends and family) was born on an American military base in Germany. She is survived by her beloved sisters and best friends, Cathy, Teresa, and Jenny, as well as her beloved brother Greg. She is preceded in death by their parents, Ronald and Hazel Zeis, who were dearly loved by all of their children and grandchildren. She leaves behind three children, the principal loves of her life, Michael, Tommy, and David; four grandchildren: Heidi, Sonny, Keith, and Brianna. She is also survived by her siblings' children, who were as close as siblings to her own children: Jason, Noël, Brent, Nick, Carly, Stacie, Jamie, and Bella, and their children, as well.
As well as being born into a storied military family, the daughter of a Korean war hero, she also served her country as an Army linguist, where she met her first husband, Michael Brennan, who is Michael and Tommy's father. After several years traveling for military duty, they moved back to the Hamilton area. Separating from Michael in 1991, she met Keith Shook, a long-time resident and descendent of one of Fairfield's founding families. Keith is David's father, and was Patty's loving partner for most of the rest of her life. He was and continues to be a substantial father figure in the lives of Michael and Tommy.
Patty was a talented artist, who had written and illustrated two children's books, as well as being the creator of many drawings and paintings, most of which hang proudly in the homes of her family. She worked extremely hard her entire life, mostly as a nurse taking care of others at the end of their lives. She loved her country and was a thoughtful and principled conservative. Her generosity was unmatched.
Patty leaves behind more than just the absence of her presence and a lifetime of memories. She leaves her indelible creative spirit, her kind and loving nature, her wicked sense of humor, and a courageous drive that has inspired not just those close to her, but everyone she encountered. Patty was a loving mother, a doting grandmother, a deeply caring sister and a ferocious friend. She left her mark permanently on her family and friends and will be missed greatly.
