Phyllis Jean (Keipper) age 89 passed from this life on July 12, 2022 into God’s Rest.
Jeanne was born December 12, 1932 in Van Wert, Ohio the eldest daughter of Victor Phillip and Isabel C. Keipper (Hall). Jeanne received her education at the Marsh Foundation Children’s Home (1941-1946) and the Van Wert Public Schools, graduating from Van Wert High School Class of 1950.
On August 28, 1951, she joined the Women’s Army Corps. She was proud of being a member of the WAC’s and of the opportunity of serving her Country. She was a cryptographer stationed in Arlington, Virginia when she met her future husband.
On August 2, 1952 at Walter Reed Chapel she was united in marriage to Richard Dean Greer and to this union, two wonderful daughters blessed them. Terri Jo, in August 1956 and Cathy Jean, in June 1961. She loved them and was proud of them both.
She was employed by the Butler County Records office for 28 years and retired on May 31, 2000, due to ill health.
On June 1, 1973, in Monroe, Ohio she was united in marriage to Robert Paul Gfroerer and they shared 35 years of wonderful memories until Bob’s death on August 2, 2007.
Jeanne was a member of the Bridgewater Church and a life member of the American Legion.
She was an avid reader and her favorite past times were camping and watching her granddaughter Amanda play soccer. (She was an amazing goalie.) She also loved and enjoyed her daughter Cathy’s daycare kids who all called her “Gigi”.
Jeanne is survived by her two daughters Terri & Cathy, granddaughter Amanda Jo (Jarren) Howard, and Abigail (Antwon) Roper and again was blessed with great-granddaughter Jemma LeAnn Howard, great-grandson Jeremiah Roper and great-granddaughter Makalya Roper, half-brother Ray (Kudie) and many loved nieces and nephews. Jeanne is also survived by her son-in-law Randy Hobson who with Cathy shared their home with Jeanne since 2007, many thanks to them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bob, sister and best friend Dorothy Lewis, whom Jeanne loved dearly, brothers Robert and Donald Keipper, brother in-law- Michael Lewis, stepfather George Able, nephew Patrick Keipper, nephew Collin, great niece Leah, grandmother Virginia Hall who raised her sister Harietta Kay as an infant, and her first husband Dick Greer.
Cremation has taken place, as it was her wish. Graveside services with inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family with Amy Arnold officiating, at Greenwood Cemetery, laid to rest, next to her beloved husband Bob. Condolences may be offered at www.avancefuneralhome.com
